Programs and Activities
Bible Classes
Sunday morning and Wednesday night classes are provided for all ages. A curriculum has been designed to cover Bible subjects which we believe are most needed by the various ages.
Youth Activities
We are committed to enjoyable and enriching activities for our youth. Extra classes are held from time to time, as well as recreational activities. Our youth participate in several youth rallies throughout the year.
Lads-to-Leaders
Our youth participate in the Lads-to-Leaders program which helps both boys and girls develop leadership traits and develop skills that will help them serve the church in the future.
Baskets of Blessings
At Charlotte Avenue we desire to form loving relationships with people and God, who loves us all. This includes showing God’s love to people within our community. One way to accomplish this goal is though our Baskets of Blessings ministry in which we seek out families and individuals within our area in need of weekly food support. Assistance and loving support with dignity is available for those struggling to make ends meet.
Bible Camp
Many of our young people go to Palmetto Bible Camp (north of Greenville, SC). The camp is under different directors from week to week.
Carolina Men’s Fellowship
Beginning in 1999 Charlotte Avenue has hosted an annual gathering of men from all over the Carolinas, with a typical attendance of 600 – 700 men. It is held on the second Saturday of March, with one the guest speakers beginning a gospel meeting series at Charlotte Avenue the following day. More info
Vacation Bible School
A Vacation Bible School is held each summer with formats varying from single-day events on a Saturday, to multiple evenings during the week.
Service Teams
Members who want to participate are divided into Service Teams. These teams often provide lunch for visitors after the Sunday morning worship. They also provide setup and cleanup for other church social functions. On most first-Sunday nights we have a snack fellowship for everyone following the evening worship.
Financial Support of Missions
A considerable part of our budget is for the support of missions. At present regularly monthly support is being sent to international missions in Kenya, Haiti, and India, and domestic missions for the Southeast School of Biblical studies in Knoxville, preacher training students at various schools, and assistance to multiple congregations and works within South Carolina.
Publications
A bulletin is published for every Sunday and distributed at the services. The congretation makes the the following publications available to members: Carolina Messenger (monthly); Gospel Minutes (weekly); Gospel Advocate (monthly); Spiritual Sword (quarterly).
Assemblies for Worship
Hebrews 10:25 tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. Worship is essential and every member is encouraged to be at every service. This includes meetings on the Lord’s Day and other occasions when the church is called together (Wednesday nights, gospel meetings, etc.)
